Description
Description of Gauge Savers:
Gauge Savers, also termed as over range protector is a mechanical component which has been primarily designed to protect pressure measuring instruments against over pressure conditions either designed or accidental.
It cuts off the pressure exceeding desired pre-set value thus preventing failure of measuring instrument and stops possible damages such as hazardous leakages, explosions etc.
The operation of the device is based on the quick and positive action of built in push-rod type piston assembly which allows orifice to open or close based on the inlet pressure value. An integral spring holds the valve open under normal operating conditions. When the inlet pressure exceeds the setting pressure of the valve then the spring is compressed and closes the valve. As and when, the pressure falls below the pre-set pressure value, the line and/or the pressure gauge is automatically put in to operation again. Setting is achieved by selection of the appropriate spring to operate in the correct range and adjustment of the spring adjuster until the desired operational setting is achieved.
The Gauge Saver is of extreme importance and necessary to protect the pressure sensitive instruments against over pressures, sudden line induced pressure surges which are principal causes of the instrument and subsequent system failure. The Gauge Saver can be supplied to function at different cut-off pressure values on special request.
Gauge Savers are usually installed in line with the instrument to be protected in any position (vertical or horizontal) as required.
The repeat accuracy of the unit depends on the rate of pressure rise. However, an accuracy of ± 10% of the set pressure may be expected.
